Comment 1: Too Much Bible Reading? A Poor Example of Legalism by Scripture Thoughts on September 7, 2011
I love the exploration of people and legalism in this post. Too many people and churches focus on legalism and a lot of them deny that they are legalistic. The results I have seen from legalism are crippling. Instead of not cussing, not doing drugs, not being disrespectful out of love for Jesus, people do these things out of fear. “If I cuss, I am going to hell.” “Well, there’s no hope for me if I do drugs.” I am in no way supporting this actions but just trying to prove my point. The Bible says there is freedom with living in Christ. How is one to live freely when living out of fear? Living freely is easier and more enjoyable when you do good things out of love for Christ and others. I have personally seen both sides of this. Before learning the actual term “legalism,” religion and spiritually were things that I struggled with greatly. I felt low and bad about myself, with no hope. But now that I know that Jesus is here to save us and to love us, I feel like I can finally live freely.
Comment 2: The Path ” by SpiritoftheLaw on October 11, 2009
What a post! It is so inspiring! It’s starts out with a great attention-getter and I was hooked from the very start. With sin all around us, it is easy to see how many people follow the road to destruction. You bring up a great point when you say that Jesus had nothing else but His divine nature. He set a great example for all people living during and after his time. He did not store up a bunch of earthly treasures or gain confidence from his good deeds. He received his hope, strength, and confidence through His Father. He did not focus on religious traditions or doctrine, unlike so many people today do. I am going to start trusting God and his awesome plan for me. I will try to forget the extra 20 pounds of baggage and live like Jesus did.
Comment 3: Silent Sadness by I Blog My Life on Oct 9, 2011
I don’t feel like there is a “right” time of when to start decorating for Christmas. As we get farther into November, however, I am tempted to start listening to Christmas music, as it as starting to play on many Christmas stations. I agree with what sixtywhiskers said about how Thanksgiving seems to not be given proper credit because it is always overshadowed by the upcoming Christmas season. My family’s decorating time is the weekend after Thanksgiving. We always spend the afternoon or evening decorating the pretty tree, hanging up the glistening lights, and admiring others’ decorations. Like a lot of other bloggers have said, I love Christmas time. It is undoubtedly the best season. All the TV specials and Christmas movies, ice skating in the crisp night air, drinking hot apple cidar can not be beat! Have a great rest of the year!
Comment 6: Why I Steal Ink Pens by Whimsy Whims on Nov. 11, 2011
This is hilarious! I have never heard anything like it but it’s awesome. You probably have well over 500 pens. It’s great that you can be so h0nest about it. I also like that you have 50 Sharpies and they are all black. Why not lots of colorful Sharpies like red and green? I also think its really funny that there are so many other people who like stealing pens as well! I’m planning on becoming a psychologist. It’d be interesting to study this habit! Anyways, good luck with your pen-snatching!
Comment 7: Tips For Shopping Smarter This Holiday Season by CBS Detroit on Nov. 11, 2011
These shopping hints will be so helpful, especially during the holiday season! Personally, I love shopping alone anyways just because of the fact that it saves a bunch of time. I know what I want, I get in and I get out. I am definitely going to try paying with cash instead of with a card. I like using debit cards because they are so much more convienant and I don’t have to deal with change. (I hate pennies!) I am normally great at making budgets but pretty bad at keeping them. You know what they say-practice makes perfect. So I’ll need to budget and go out and shop to practice!
Comment 8: Gallery Holiday Lights Display by CBS Cleveland on Nov. 10, 2011
The lights are one of my favorite things about the Christmas season! I look forward to it all year! It’s amazing how this post shows Christmas lights from around the world. The familiar and similiar sights in these pictures almost unifies all of us. The one I thought was the prettiest is of Milan, Italy. Italy is gorgeous as it is but string up some Christmas lights and it’s even more amazing!
Comment 9: Christmas 2011…Coming Soon! by The Seasonal Home on Nov. 13, 2011
All three of these pictures are gorgeous! I especially love the gingerbread house! These items are very classy and versatile! Christmas, of course, is a very comforting time of year for many people and it these decorations would give any home a “homey” feeling! One thing I like about the bottom picture is the lights underneath of the “snow.” It’s very creative. Although the yellow wall behind looks alright, I would think that this style and tone of Christmas decorations would look better in front of a deep red color. Merry (Early) Christmas!
Comment 10: My (Christmas) Room by MelodyC on Nov. 13, 2011
Your Christmas decorations are so creative! I’m in college as well and living in an apartment. For Christmas, I normally hang up a string of lights around the parameter of the room and put little Christmas decorations around the room. But I love your idea of hanging tinsel on the wall, as well as the snowflakes. Usually I make snowflakes out of white paper but this year I’m going to try using blue and white paper. Thanks for the idea! Merry Christmas!
This post is so vulnerable and real. I love it! I am truly sorry if this is what you are going through. I know when rough times last what seems like forever, we are seemingly forced into covering our deepest feelings. In a society that shuns the expression of negative emotions, it can be hard to show your true emotions. After all, if others found out how we truly feel inside at times, what would they think or do? Your awknowledgement at the end is a sad, but true one. The fact that others are faking happiness only to be crying inside is not a pleasant one. Though our emotions seem small and this problem seems big, God can see it and can handle it. God cares about the most minute details in your life and he would love to hear all about your emotions!
